Judge Ballinger will run in November 2005 as a Republican to keep the appointment she received in Dec. 2004 from Governor Taft. The position was vacated after former Municipal Judge William Finnegan was elected Nov. 2 to Marion County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Ballinger practiced law for over 10 years and is certified by the Ohio Supreme Court as a Mediator. She also currently serves as a member of the Ohio Judicial College, the Association of Municipal/County Judges of Ohio, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Marion County Bar Association, the Women’s Business Council, and Junior Service Guild. Before entering the practice of law, Judge Ballinger taught High School Social Studies and Special Education at Pleasant Schools for 11 years, and prior to that, was employed by the Marion City Schools as a social worker.

“I have a total of 25 years of experience in the practice of law, in education and in social work. I have the intellect, the common sense and the heart to consider the facts, apply the law, and present a just decision.”

Judge Ballinger is a graduate of Pleasant High School, Ohio Dominican College and Capital University Law School.

She and her husband, John Shank, are the parents of five children.
